About these terms

These terms apply when you use OntarioFurnacePrices.ca, including its price guides, calculators and quote form. By using the site you accept them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.

An information service, not a contractor

Ontario Furnace Prices publishes price information and guides, and passes quote requests to participating local heating and cooling companies. We do not sell, install, repair or service equipment, we do not employ the technicians who visit your home, and we are not a party to any agreement between you and a company you hire.

Prices are ranges, not quotes

Every price here is a typical installed range for Ontario, in Canadian dollars before 13% HST unless stated, for a standard replacement in a detached home with usable ductwork and venting. Your home, equipment, venting and season move the number; our price methodology explains how the ranges are compiled.

No price on this site is an offer, a quote or a promise that a company will do the work for that amount. Only an installer's written quote, normally given after an in-home visit, is a firm number, and only the contract you sign binds you.

Quote requests and participating companies

Requesting a quote is free and does not oblige you to buy anything. A participating company is an independent business, not our employee, agent or partner, and it alone is responsible for its quote, workmanship, permits, inspections, safety, warranty registration and service. We do not inspect, rate or guarantee participating companies, or promise that one will be available in your area or on your timeline.

Check any company before you hire it: gas work in Ontario must be done by a TSSA-registered contractor, so ask for the registration number.

Calculators are planning aids

Our calculators and quizzes give estimates from what you enter and the assumptions shown on each tool, such as default energy prices of about $0.50 per cubic metre of natural gas and $0.15 per kWh, which you can change. A size estimate is a rule of thumb, not a CSA F280 room-by-room load calculation, and the repair-or-replace quiz is not a technician's diagnosis.

Rebates change

Program rules, amounts and deadlines change. Confirm eligibility with the program and get any required approval before you buy: the Home Renovation Savings Program, for example, requires approval before a heat pump is installed (see its terms and requirements). Nothing on this site promises a rebate or an amount, and our Ontario rebates guide links the official program pages.

No warranty

The site is provided as is. We review it regularly, most recently in October 2026, but do not warrant that it is complete, current, free of errors or always available.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent Ontario law permits, Ontario Furnace Prices is not liable for any loss or damage, including indirect or consequential loss, arising from your use of the site, your reliance on its content or your dealings with any company you contact through it. Nothing in these terms limits a right under Ontario consumer protection law that cannot be waived.

Acceptable use

  • Do not submit spam, automated or test requests.
  • Do not try to get around the site's security or overload it. Search engines and AI crawlers that follow our robots.txt file are welcome.
  • Do not use the site for anything unlawful.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and disputes about them are for the courts of Ontario.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top shows the current version, and using the site after a change means you accept it.

Questions people ask

Is the price on this site what I will pay?

Probably not exactly. Our figures are typical Ontario ranges before 13% HST for a standard replacement, and your home, venting, ductwork and equipment move the number. Use the range to check your quotes, and rely only on the installer's written quote.

Does requesting a quote commit me to anything?

No. A request is free and carries no obligation. You commit only when you sign a written quote or contract with a heating and cooling company, and that contract is between you and that company. You can turn down any quote.

Who is responsible if something goes wrong with my installation?

The company that did the work, under your contract, its workmanship warranty and the manufacturer's warranty. Before you sign, ask how warranty registration works and what labour is covered, keep your paperwork, and for gas work confirm the contractor's TSSA registration number.
