What these tools can and cannot tell you
Every price comes from the same Ontario price index used across this site and charted on the Ontario Furnace Prices home page: typical installed ranges in Canadian dollars, before 13% HST, reviewed October 2026. How we estimate prices explains the sources.
The results are planning estimates. They show whether a quote is in the normal range, what size to expect and which extras to ask about, but they cannot see your venting, ducts or electrical panel, and the sizing tools do not replace a CSA F280 load calculation. Nothing you type is stored or sent, and there is no sign-up.
Cost calculators
The furnace cost calculator prices single-stage, two-stage and modulating gas furnaces by home size, plus extras such as venting or a condensate pump. The heat pump cost calculator covers ducted, dual fuel and ductless systems, including electrical work.
Sizing calculators
The furnace size calculator turns floor area, home age and region into a heat loss in BTU/h and the furnace sizes that cover it. The AC size calculator gives a tonnage range. Use them to check a quoted size, then ask how the installer worked it out.
Running cost and the repair decision
The heating cost calculator compares a year of heat from gas, a heat pump and electric baseboards, starting from about $0.50 per m³ of gas and $0.15 per kWh, both editable. The repair or replace check weighs age, the repair quote and safety flags.

Questions people ask
Are the calculator results quotes?
No. They are planning estimates built from typical Ontario installed prices and stated assumptions. A real quote depends on what a calculator cannot see, such as your venting, duct condition, electrical panel and access to the furnace room. Use the results to judge whether a quote is in the normal range.
Do the calculators save or send what I enter?
No. The calculations run in your browser and nothing you type leaves the page. There is no account and no cookies. Requesting a free quote is a separate form that tells you what is shared, and with whom, before you send anything.
Which calculator should I start with?
With a repair quote in hand, start with the repair or replace check. If you plan to replace the furnace, use the size calculator first, then the cost calculator. Weighing a heat pump? Pair the heat pump cost calculator with the heating cost calculator.
