Furnace prices by Ontario city
A standard gas furnace replacement typically costs $4,000 to $6,500 before HST almost anywhere in Ontario. Your city nudges that by a few percent. The system you choose, and the house it goes into, move it far more.

Why furnace prices vary by city
- Labour and overhead. Installer wages, rent and insurance cost most in the GTA, so Toronto, Mississauga and Brampton quotes run above the provincial midpoint.
- Travel. Rural addresses can carry a travel charge.
- Housing age. Century brick, stone and post-war homes more often need a chimney liner, duct changes or a condensate pump.
- Access and parking. Narrow lots, tight stairs and downtown parking add hours to a job.
- Climate and sizing. Colder places such as Ottawa need more capacity, and heat pumps there more often need backup heat.
Each city page covers local climate, housing, utilities, permits and nearby towns. For the provincial picture, see furnace prices in Ontario and how we estimate prices.
Questions people ask
Are furnaces cheaper outside Toronto?
Usually a little. Our Toronto snapshot sits about 8% above the provincial range because of labour, parking and access costs; London and Windsor sit slightly below it. On a $5,250 single-stage midpoint, 8% is about $420, often less than the gap between two quotes for one house.
Why is my town not listed?
We publish pages only where we can describe local housing, utilities and climate accurately. If you live nearby, use the closest city page: each lists the towns around it. Our Ontario furnace price ranges apply province-wide, and the quote form accepts any Ontario postal code.
Do rebates change from city to city?
The heat pump programs in our rebate guide are provincial, so their rules do not change by city; your current heating fuel is what changes the amount. Home Renovation Savings requires approval before installation, and programs change, so confirm before you buy.
