Rheem furnace prices in Ontario (2026)
Rheem gas furnaces typically cost $4,300 to $9,800 installed in Ontario in 2026, before 13% HST. That puts Rheem between the value badges and the premium dealer brands: about $4,300 to $5,800 single-stage, $5,800 to $7,200 two-stage and $7,500 to $9,800 modulating.

Classic, Classic Plus and Prestige: what the series mean
Rheem sorts its gas furnaces into three series. Classic is the entry line, Classic Plus the middle and Prestige the top. The names are marketing tiers, not burner types: the Classic Plus series, for example, includes both two-stage and single-stage models. Read the staging from the model's spec sheet, not from the series badge.
Series show where each tier usually sits. Confirm staging and efficiency from the model number on your quote, and read the current Canadian warranty certificate.
All three tier prices sit inside the matching provincial furnace ranges on OntarioFurnacePrices.ca. For most two-storey Ontario houses, a two-stage furnace with a variable-speed blower is the value point. A single-stage Classic suits a tight budget or a smaller home. Prestige earns its price in large houses, homes with rooms that never quite match the thermostat, or when quiet matters most.

Does Prestige pay for itself on gas?
Not on gas savings alone. Take a house that burns 2,000 m³ of gas a year for heating, at about $0.50 per m³ all-in on an Enbridge bill, and compare a 95% furnace with a 97% one:
- Gas saved a year
- about 41 m³95% to 97% AFUE
- Saved a year
- about $21At $0.50 per m³
- Typical price gap
- $3,600Classic to Prestige, midpoints
- Payback on gas alone
- 170+ yearsLonger than any furnace lasts
Two points of AFUE save about 2% of the heating gas, so the top tier is a comfort purchase, not an investment. The bigger running saving often comes from the blower: variable-speed ECM blowers use much less electricity than older PSC motors, which matters if you run the fan all the time. Rheem or Ruud?
Ruud is Rheem's sister brand. The two come from the same company and share much of their engineering, and a contractor usually carries one badge or the other. If one company quotes Rheem and another quotes Ruud, treat them as close equivalents: match the staging, blower type and capacity, then compare scope and warranty. Rheem is also a major water heater brand, so you may be offered a price on a new water heater in the same visit. Weigh it as a separate decision.
What moves a Rheem quote
-
Series and staging
Raises the price: +$1,450 to +$3,600
The step from a Classic single-stage to a Classic Plus two-stage or a Prestige modulating furnace, midpoint to midpoint.
-
Replacing the AC at the same time
Raises the price: $8,000 to $15,000 together
If your air conditioner is 12 years old or more, pricing both in one job saves a second visit and gets a matched coil. See furnace and AC prices.
-
Venting and chimney liner
Raises the price: +$300 to $1,500
New PVC venting for a condensing furnace, and a liner if a gas water heater is left alone in the old chimney.
-
Gas line work
Raises the price: +$300 to $1,200
Needed when the furnace moves, or the gas supply is too small for the new unit.
-
Thermostat
Can go either way: +$150 to $600
Two-stage and modulating furnaces run best with a thermostat that can call for their stages. Reusing a compatible one saves money.

Questions to ask a Rheem dealer
- Is this a Classic, Classic Plus or Prestige model, and is the burner single-stage, two-stage or modulating?
- If you also sell Ruud, is there an equivalent model, and how does its price compare?
- Does the price include a thermostat that can run every stage of this furnace?
- Is the existing AC coil staying, and does it fit the new furnace cabinet?
- Who registers the warranty, and what changes if registration is missed?
- Is your company TSSA-registered for gas work, and what is the registration number?
Questions people ask
Is Rheem a good furnace brand?
Rheem is a mainstream brand with a full lineup, from single-stage to modulating, and it competes on value rather than prestige. For any mainstream brand, how the furnace is sized, vented and set up matters more to comfort and lifespan than the badge. Choose the installer first, then the series.
What is the difference between Rheem and Ruud?
They are sister brands from the same company and share much of their engineering. The main differences are the badge and the contractors who carry each one. Compare a Rheem and a Ruud quote by matching staging, blower type and capacity, then look at scope, warranty registration and the installer's labour terms.
Which Rheem series is right for an Ontario home?
A two-stage furnace, usually found in the Classic Plus series, suits most two-storey Ontario houses. A single-stage Classic suits a small, tight home or a strict budget. Prestige is worth it for large or uneven homes when quiet and steady temperatures matter more than price. Check staging on the model sheet, since series names are tiers.
Is Rheem cheaper than Lennox or Carrier?
For the same type of furnace, Rheem usually quotes below brands positioned as premium. Compare our Lennox furnace prices and Carrier furnace prices by tier. The gap depends on the installer and scope as much as on the badge, so compare full written quotes.
